Neurotransmitter of ANS
Acetylcholine (Ach)
It is the main neurotransmitter of parasympathetic system and released from:
Nerve endings of pre-ganglionic parasympathetic and sympathetic neurons.
Nerve terminals of post-ganglionic parasympathetic neurons.
Noradrenaline (N-Ad):
It is the main neurotransmitter of the sympathetic system.
It is released from the post-ganglionic sympathetic nerve terminals.
Exception: The post-ganglionic nerve terminals to the sweat glands are anatomically sympathetic, but their neurotransmitter is acetylcholine.
